Airport Information

Mexico City Airport, officially called Benito Juárez International, is located around eight miles east of the city centre. With two terminals, the airport is a modern and efficient gateway to the city, and is one of the busiest airports in Latin America.

Getting to and around the airport

Leave plenty of time for travelling; delays or heavy traffic may hinder your journey. The easiest way to reach the airport is by taxi, but make sure it’s a registered cab – it’s probably best to call a well-reputed taxi firm and have them pick you up, rather than hail a cab yourself. If you’re able to travel with your luggage, it’s much cheaper to get the metro; the station for the airport is ‘Terminal Aerea’ on the yellow line. If you are leaving the airport for the city, there are authorised taxi ranks outside the terminals; grab a ticket (ask for a ‘sedán’ and don’t pay more than 200 pesos) and then wait in line for a cab.

If getting from A to B inside the airport, be prepared to get lost or confused – it’s not the most straightforward of buildings and interior transport could be better with the distances you have to cover. The two terminals are too far apart to walk between, and if you have a ticket you can jump on the monorail that runs back and forth from T1 to T2. If not, take a taxi or catch one of the red buses that cost just five pesos each way.
